Good info as always guys. I'm changing TVs and will be taking a good look at mine as I have a pre 2010 setup and never really paid much attention to it before. Dealer setup originally, this time I'm doing it myself.

Ah man here we go again. Ok after the first time I got the bracket swapped out from dealer. Everything was good. Bought a new to me 1-ton truck and with the help of ericjames went through the process of getting everything readjusted for the new truck and it was right on with the reese instructions. Fast forward a couple weeks, we went out this past weekend. I noticed so pretty good bouncing on one stretch of highway north of Yankton but it seemed to be just that section of road. Got home yesterday and both snap up brackets were bent this time. Called Reese and they said to contact my dealer since all is under warranty and the dealer can check it and swap me out with the heavier brackets if needed. My concern is as the guy from Reese said it may be my setup as they have used the same brackets for 40 years. I know they shouldn't be bending so perhaps something in my particular setup needs some adjustment. I have inspected all the parts looking for some visual queue that something was making contact where it shouldn't and I just can't find anything. I am concerned as we are supposed to go out this weekend and this fall I am planning to let my parents use my rig to go to Colorado for an elk hunting trip. I don't want them having issues. I did notice that in the Reese instructions it says you can bolt the bracket in place on the outside which we have done. Don't know if that will help or not. Waiting for the dealer to call me back to see if we can get it in this week to have the setup checked.

Yes, bolting the brackets in place will take care of the problem. You might want to take a look at this hitch set-up sticky thread, especially the second half of it, for some help on the problem you are having.

ARRRGHH! This is so frustrating. We went through that whole set up to a "T".
Beside the fact that maybe they do need to be bolted to the frame, that darn ball shank and nutt are huge. Any indication they are hitting the trunnion bars or your Dual Cams are stressed?
Someone get to ride in the bed of your truck and watch the hitch action. I has to be something in the tight turning???

I didn't see any visual indication of them making contact. I want to do some drive around testing with turning to see if something is hitting but I can't do that until I get the brackets replaced. I know we had that thing setup to what seemed to us to be perfection. I did wonder if the bouncing we experienced on hwy81 might have caused it. It was quite noticeable.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and he said that I am the third person this season that is having issues. He said that they are just swapping folks out with the heavier snap up brackets. He said they are questioning if Reese got a batch of brackets that were sub-par. Sucks though cause they have to order them and he couldn't tell me for sure if they would make it this week.

New brackets arrived today. Will be installing and inspecting setup tonight to see if I can identify any other possible cause. I don't think weak brackets are solely to blame. There must be another explanation but I couldn't investigate until I had new brackets. Will post findings soon.

Yeah there is something more. Notice that the new brackets are not 90° in the bend? Neither are the brackets that hold up the cam arms. This puts the cam arms too far out, and the brackets do not havbe the right geometry to hold on the frame.
Check it out. That is why I am getting rid of mine and going to something else. Poor manufacturing.

Are you camping this weekend? I'm heading to Lewis & Clark/Gavins tonight.
I hope those new brackets fix the problem!
