Hi to all,
I just purchased my first toy hauler--a Raptor 30FS. I find that the ramp angle is too steep.
What are my options in changing ramp angle?
Has anyone had this issue?

Block up the end of your ramp and add another ramp to exstend the angle.

You must have something with almost no ground clearance that you are running up that ramp. I have a fellow motorcyclist with a custom Harley that has 4" of clearance and he gets that in his Raptor 26FS with no problems. Try raising the front of the trailer to start with or adding taller bumpers to the ramp door. If you add bumpers, and I have seen this done, you might have to add an extension to the top of the ramp that you can fold out when the ramp is down.

Something like the auto ramps placed where the wheels hit the ramp should do the trick. Need to block or lock the ramps to the rampdoor so one doesn't slip that could easily crack the door itself. The older Desert Fox 5ers use a set of aluminum ramps for this purpose, the door itself had 2 or 3 8" bumpers that kept the ramp door tip off the ground.

You could also try raising the front of the Raptor up to see if that changes the angle enough too.

By too steep I assume that something is dragging. Does it drag as it goes into the garage area? If it drags there then I would imagine you'll have to decrease the angle of the door/ramp. To do that you'll need to raise the ramp where it contacts the ground in which case a ramp extension and something to raise the ramp off the ground would help. More details would help.

is it your street glide that is dragging?
i have been looking around at toy haulers and notice a few with some angles to the ramp, what about raising the front of the trailer when you load or unload?

I find the steepness of the ramp varies depending on the levelness of the site. I have problems loading/unloading by myself and my bike is only 550 lbs, not really heavy like the Harleys. Unloading with the front brake locked it slides down the ramp, and loading, I have to start the engine put it in first and walk it up while feathering the clutch/throttle. The problem is if the back wheel starts to spin, then it starts going sideways and you have to walk it back down.
On a level site I can go up and down the ramp ok, but if the back is lower then the ramp has more angle. It's intimidating, so I bought an electric winch and made a stand for it that latches into the wheel chock. I can now hold the winch remote at my bike and winch it up and down the ramp. Pretty reasonable cost, winch was $139 at Harbor Frieght and I made the stand out of 2x6 wood.

Holy cow....Txtiger, what are you loading and into what trailer? I think some of you guys would panic if you ever saw the setup i have! Im loading a HD ultra up 9' alum ramps into the bed of my truck. In a few weeks this feat will be taking place again and i will make certain to have the wife take a picture of the ramps bending as they should.
I have been considering a toy hauler and getting rid of the trael trailer so i no longer need the ramps. After reading all this i am begining to think i should just stay with what i have!

I just had to buy 2" over tubes to raise my custom Harley enough to get it in and I still have to use a 4 X 4 under the door to raise it up. I just took a 24" X 30" piece of plywood and screwed it into the 4 X 4 to make a lift and a ramp. Put it under the door and now I'm good to go. You may also want to check your fluid in your tubes to see if they are full height. Over time you lose fluid and the front end drops.
Also, don't just ratchet down your suspension. Put a block of wood under your frame so it's about 1/2 inch lower and then ratchet down your bike on the block of wood. If you don't do this you will ruin your suspension and blow all your fluid out.
In my life I've spent my money on women, booze, Harleys, guitars and traveling, the rest I just wasted...

I'm loading my Triumph Tiger and my wife's Suzuki. The Suzi is easy, but if my tires aren't clean, which they aren't with gravel sites, the rear tire will spin trying to go up the ramp. My toy hauler is a KZ Sportsmen 27TH. It has a beaver tail, but given I'm 155 lbs and over 60 yrs old, I'm not quite as adventuous as I used to be and like the ease of technology. I'm taking my bro-in-law on next trip (this friday going to Colorado to ride) and he has a Sportster. He's over 70, also weighs in at about 155, so the winch takes the apprehension out of loading and unloading.
