Any of you put on air bags to help raise the rear suspension a little while towing?

My tow truck is a E450 box van and it has a custom lowered SS bumper so its easier to climb in and out of and the hitch is under that.... the bottom of the hitch is about 9.5-10 inches off the ground with nothing on it.

Air bags are a great mod. Really helps with vehicle stability while towing.

Yep, put them on Dodge dually to get it off the overloads. I used the Firestone bags and they work great. 50 psi and I'm good to go.

I have run air bags on both my present and previous trucks.
I can level out things and it rides better by not sitting on the "overload" spring.

Just remember that your weight distributing hitch is MADE to level tow vehicle when towing a trailer. Air bags might make it level, but will NOT keep front tow vehicle wheels properly planted on the pavement. WDH does that.

Yep, but if I take another 2 links up in the chain to get the rig level, it rides like ****, not too mention its dangerous to Me since it takes all I can muster to latch them and usually fail.
My TH is nose heavy and there is nothing I can do about, I already have a Rhino and a bike in the back and as much stuff as I can stuff back there to try and move the weight to the rear. The air bags solved that, 40-50 #'s level it out and it rides and tows great.

No it is not, the WD is to transfer some of the weight off the rear axle to the front axle, and trailer axles. The rear axle still carries most of the tounge weight (the total weight less what is transfered back to the trailer axle). The weight shifted to the front axle started there, it was shifted aft by the cantilever of the hitch being behind the rear axle.

Not sure of the physics end of things, but wouldn't the air bags lifting the rear transfer some weight forward ? instead of the truck sitting nose high without the bags and level with the bags.
