As mentioned Trip Advisor is one I use frequently, and dont forget Yelp. Same kind of app.
A great website we use for finding local restaurants is Roadfood.com It's similar to this forum except it's about restaurants. There is an overview page that the site owners have their own reviews by state. Or you can join and go to the forums and search the area you are interested in visiting for even more local recommendations.
We have found places we would have never known about or considered using their website.
