Background:
I bought a new 2010 Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel (322QBS model) in Feb 2010. Here (Canada) the RV season doesn't start until May because of the snow. So, in May and June, we took the unit out for a total of 3 short weekend get-away type trips. Then, in July 2010, our 4th trip was a total of about 1000 miles from Canada to Coeur D'Alene Idaho. And that's when the frame failed on my new RV. LINK TO ORIGINAL THREAD - W/PICS
Anyway, when we got home from that disaster of a trip, I contacted Transport Canada (equivalent to NHTSA in the USA) to report the defect and safety issue.
Yesterday, I got a follow up email from Transport Canada.
Apparently, there have been more failures reported. They actually have an open investigation into Keystone and Forest River RV frame failures, all involving Lippert Frames.
LINK to Transport Canada's website listing investigations.
I have been in contact with the person that emailed me from Transport Canada.
A pre-trip inspection is a good idea.

LOL
Maybe they can relay the correct procedure in welding from your photos onto Lippert The guy that fixed yours is no longer there, JFYI
All kidding aside have a nice trip.
And oh yeah, didn't notice any CP4 listings. The beamer's were for the electrical system. I think there might be something to the fuel quality between US standards and Canadian standards.

A suggestion: If you change the subject title to 'Lippert Frames' it might catch the eye of more people who may be affected.

I got feedback immediately upon notifying them, but it was more of an "ok, we'll file that one until..."
..
Well, it appears "until" may have arrived.

Of course "opening and investigation" means just that. They (obviously) think that too many frame failures have been reported.
The outcome of the investigation will be interesting, will they find, as some here insist, that the high number of failures reported is due to the high number of frames installed.... or will they find that most other builders have near zero frame failure rate and Lippert actually has a number of them.
Me, I'm betting on the latter. The only frame issues I can recall hearing about are Libbert.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

They are considering sending me an accelerometer to install in the RV to collect data while I travel.. Turns out the representative I spoke to and I have a common associate through the Collision Reconstruction community.
