Just finished cleaning the awning on my 5er. What a pain!!! Started with camping world awning cleaner, wasn't doing the job, ended up using 409 and a long handled brush.
Any better ideas?

Solution of bleach, Dawn detergent and water and let sit then rinse off after awhile, if that does not get it all then reapply and rub with a long handle brush then rinse.

I hose the awning off good then I take about a 1/2 cup of bleach in 1/2 gal of water in pump up sprayer and spray it on both sides, then roll up awning for about 10 minutes then unroll and hose off good, usually does the trick

I use Tilex Mold And Mildew remover. Spray it about two feet up on the inside so the underside of the flap gets soaked. Then spray the top side all the way up, roll up awning, scrub the very top that is exposed, unroll and rinse off with a pressure washer. Gets it clean and smells pretty good. Just be careful when using anything with bleach that when you spray it, is when the wind will blow.
Jomax house cleaner, and bleach. Mix according to directions. The Jomax is around $20 a gallon, but it is concentrated and makes 20 gallons of solution. I just washed mine today, and it is the best thing I have found.
Somewhere on the awning may be instructions on what to use and how to clean. Following instructions probably won't c;ean it as well as you like.
That being said, I have a Carefree and it says NOT to use bleach or other alkaline cleaners as it may damage it. I have used bleach and Tilex anyway and does not seem to have hurt it.

Bleach is bad for awnings. Takes the life out of them. Try simple green in a 75/25 concentrate to water mix.Wet awning down, Spray both sides with simple green on a cooler day, run a brush over it, Roll up and let set about 15 minutes.
Unroll and rinse. If you have really bad buildup it may take twice and pure simple green. To help protect the awning use a sponge mop and apply a coat of 303 protectant after the awning is clean and dry.
