Hello, first time RV owner here. I recently purchased a 34' 1994 Airex Class A motorhome. I have 2 questions concerning usage of it's systems.

1. I tried connecting the electrical wire to 2 different sockets, one in my backyard, one in my house. It short circuited both after working properly for a minute or two. Does anybody know why it did this and/or how I could keep it working without another socket being short circuited? I received one suggestion that I need a 30 AMP electrical outlet.

2. Is it possible to get an extension for the sewer wire used for draining grey & blackwater. Our sewer hole is too far for the sewer wire to reach in it's current location.

Thanks in advance.

Before connecting to Your House Outlet be sure to turn Off every circuit in the RV!
There are some draws which will "Blow" the 15 Amp breakers! EG Air Conditioner.
Yes it is possible to extend the Sewer "Hose" however if You intend to use gravity to carry away the Waste material be sure to connect to a proper Sanitary Dumping Station or be sure to let it drain downhill!

Too answer question # 1. I'm assuming the RV is a 30 amp you should be able to connect it to any 20amp outlet with the proper atep down connections. also assuming that you are not overloading the circuit by trying to run too many appliance's at the same time. It should run one A/C or the fridge and a couple lights but not both at the same time.
Question # 2 If you are calling the sewer connection hose " a wire " yes you can purchase sections of the hose at any RV dealer or Wallmart or Camping World. As long as its running down hill the water will flow.

It may be that the Converter is trying to charge your batteries, as soon as you plug in. I would make sure that everything else is OFF....at least for a few hours.

Have you got a 30A to 20A adapter? You can get them at Walmart or CampingWorld.

If you plugged your 30A plug into your dryer outlet, you are trying to run 220VAC through the system that was designed for 110VAC....and it isn't going to work!

I would recommend that you contact an electrician, and have them install a separate 30A outlet near where you park the RV, so that you will be able to use all the systems.

As far as the sewer connection is concerned, you probably could get away with an additional 10-12' of hose, but after that, it's going to be just sitting on the ground, and you won't want to be picking it up

Options are to either have the septic connection moved closer to the RV, or buy one of the sewage pumping systems that will allow you to pump the tanks anywhere you want, even uphill.

Congrats on your new 2U rig

If running on a 20amp circuit, you will want to have the fridge on gas if you plan to use an A/C. That way you make sure to keep everything in the fridge good and cold.

We use our rear A/C when on a 20 amp circuit as it is the smaller one. You have to remember to turn the A/C off when you want to make a pot of coffee or if DW wants to dry her hair with a hair dryer.

You'll get the hang of it.
At the campground you can have the hook up and everything will work fine.

Enjoy your new to you rig!

If you have an electrician put in a 30amp service make sure you tell him it is a 30amp 120VAC RV hook up. There are some who think the 30 amp is for a 220 outlet.
