I have a 2000 Kountry star, with a generac generator, my question is shouldn't my house batteries be charging when gen set is running, and if so what should I look for to be faulty if they are not. house batterys charge if plugged into shore power.
I had a 1997 m/h that was not set up to charge the house batteries. The only ways to charge the house battery was run the engine or start the gen set, plug in a regular battery charger and hook it up to the house battery.
It all depends on how your Motorhome was wired when it was built. But I would guess that your year Motorhome would charge your Houes battries at least, when you run your Generator.
We also have a "Generac Generator". On our Motorhome, it doesn't matter what power sorce we have, "All" Battries, are charged by all sorces.
It may be something very simple, or not. Time to get out the "Multi-Meter" and do some checking.
If you have one of the older 2 stage Converter/Chargers, now might be a good time to up-grade to a good Multi-Stage Converter/Charger.
If your House Battries are not set-up to be charged by your Generator, now is a good time to change that also, and include your Engine Battery as well, so that everything is being charged by all power sorces.
