We just had a beautiful election day in Mexico, every thing went as smood as it can be, Enrrique Penia Nieto won as president as expected, every one or the great mayority are very happy and satisfy with the resolts....

I think Mexico just had the most democratic elections ever, the interest of the Mexican population to vote was exelent, 63% of the voters list voted....

So lets just hope that this will bring better times for all and have more RV's in Mexico this season.....

So you think going back to the PRI is going to be a better deal?

If I hadn't read the last 5 words, I would never have got the connection to this RV forum....I'm so glad I did finish it for at first I thought this was some kind of political statement.

"The Federal Electoral Institute's representative count said Peña Nieto of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, won about 38 percent of the vote, prompting wild cheers from a party that was voted out in 2000 after 71 years in power when Mexicans became weary of what critics called autocratic and corrupt rule."
Looks like that Hope and Change thing is back again.

Give me numbers and some results in your history and maybe I'll give you my vote.

I hope not to end the thread, but I can't believe the PRI won considering they ruined the country and created a culture of dependence on the government and is responsible for the reputation of corruption. I guess the message is that a percentage of the country doesn't mind corruption or a strong-handed government.

12 years of prosperity down the drain. A period in history when Mexicans really got to live and become major consumers, given the ability to build and buy more homes than ever before in the history of Mexico. The lowest inflation in 40 years and the greatest growth since Lopez Portillo.

Let's hope the we can weather the next six years. The fight against the cartels may change and go back into the closet but it won't stop. Calderon was praised by many countries for his work against them.

I shake my head in disbelief.

No offence but I won't go within 50 miles of the border, I need a buffer.
I miss McAllen and Raynosa but that's in the past for me

Last winter we visited Progreso several times and had no worries. The only thing we saw was that prices were higher than in the past and I just thought that was due to it being mostly the safest place to go. Supply and demand is what it is. We hope to visit several times again this coming winter.
