Wife and I just returned from a road trip out to Lincoln, Ne. to pick up our son and celebrate the 4th with her dad. We drove our Dodge Avenger and averaged 33.3 MPG on the way out there..., what a nice surprise that was. I am excited by this simply because I have not owned a 4 banger and taken it on a road trip in well over a decade.

I am sure that there are better car's out there that get better mileage but coming from a 2500 Ram Cummin's and a Chevy Avalanche as our primary vehicle's this was a nice change.

I remember years ago, when one of my cousins ran a repair shop. He fixed up this small car and the owner decided not to pay for the repairs, so my cousin got to keep the little car. His "main wheels" was a LARGE heavy duty truck (in his "spare time", he was a farmer), so he was amazed at how far that little car could go on 10 gallons of gas.

I was surprised as well, it is a base model 2012 with the 4 speed transmission I would imagine that the optional 6 speed would be a worth while option. Understand that this was 100% highway miles with the cruise set at 75 and if anyone has been been through eastern Colorado and I80 in Nebraska you know that it is pretty level sailing. We got 500 miles out of 15 gallons.
I am very happy with our little commuter, it has nice interior room, a great ride and purchased it for $14,500 brand new.

I want a Dodge (NCIS) model with those neat sounding pipes.
I thought that a car with the name Avenger would look like a muscle car.
33 mpg ain't nutin to sneer at though. Drive safe.
