We,ve been looking at class A's for several weeks now. We would like to visit state and national parks. We are now living in a 35' fiver.
DW says she wants a 30 footer, and I want a 35 to 37 footer. We are fulltimers for the next two years, and after that we'll just take short 3 to 4 week vacations. In the mean time, I think a 30' rig would just be too small.
So, have any out there had problems getting your 35+ footer into state parks?
Thanks,
Skip

nope. depending on the park we may not fit into *all* campsites but we've had zero problems finding a site so far.

We've traveled all over the West and went from a 36' to a 40' to a 42'... so buy more MH than you think you need ONE TIME. Even a 42' is not a problem as long as you do not show up Friday thinking the couple of sites big enough are not going to be taken. Sure, bigger is harder, but not impossible.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

We have a 40 foot DP and have yet to have a problem in a state or COE park. When you use Reserveamerica.com or recreation.gov you can examine the specific sites that are available to ensure that it is large enough for your RV. This is not to say that we aren't too big for some sites, but we've yet to have a problem due to size. IMHO a 30' rig is far too small for full-timing, but I know there are people who do it in even smaller rigs.

We have the coach in my Sig. We use State Parks almost exclusively and have no problems finding sites. Buy the biggest DP you can afford.

I agree w/Ivylog. Feature the interior of you current 35' 5ver and subtract about 4' of living space. That is what you would have in a 35' MH because, although you can turn the pilot & copilot chairs around to use in the living room, you loose space from the chairs to the windshield as living space due to the steering wheel, dashboard, etc. We had a 36 MH for 9 yrs and it would have been quite comfortable for full-timing but I would not have been happy with anything shorter.

Because your schedule is in a state of flux I would suggest keeping what you have now for the next few years; then make a change as necessary.

Was in Alaska for four years with my 34 footer and got into all state and USFS campgrounds I wanted to except those set up for truck campers. I saw very few 40 footers.
When I was looking the 36 ft and larger had the washer and drier and the 34 ft did not.

So far so good in the 36' coach. We started out looking at 28'-32' range in gas, by the time we got what we wanted as far as towing capacity and interior comforts/space went we ended up with the Alpine. As some have stated we don't fit into all the spaces in BLM/FS campgrounds but we have found a space everywhere we wanted to go. I would NOT go any smaller if spending more than a few days at a time in it.
