Just wondering how many use some sort of a break away system that locks up the toad brakes in case you lose it all together.
I'm installing the READY BRUTE/BRAKE ELITE and also have the break away as well.
Just looking at this beast, I find it next to impossible to lose anything that's connected to it, but I guess it has happened.
Once I get the READY BRAKE installed, I'll take a good look at installing the BRAKE AWAY system, if deemed necessary.

I just installed on my Malibu Maxx. Was not a problem while installing the Ready Brake. Hope I never need it. But a good feeling just in case it is needed.
I also use the ReadyBrute/ReadyBrake system (won't have any other braking system). And, yes, I also installed the ReadyStop break away system.
Like already said, hope I never have to use it, and don't quite see how I ever will. But, it is good to know that the brakes will be engaged on the towed vehicle if it ever breaks completely free.
Its easiest to install both the Readystop and Readybrake at the same time if you can, rather than going back later to add the ReadyStop. Reason being, both of them route a cable from the brake pedal, its easier to do both cables at once. Thats the approach I'd suggest.

I also have the Ready Brake Elite. I would never consider towing without the breakaway system.

I probably would have done it all at once, but since I did some mods where it attaches to the brake pedal, I wanted to test all that out first. I made a bracket for the pedal arm and have attached a small pulley wheel that rotates with the pull and a quick disconnect pin for removal. This way the cable isn't attached permanently and when not towing, the cable doesn't go in and out with constant driving use.
Just got it installed before getting rained out and was about to start studying the BREAK AWAY instructions.
So far it's looks to be all pro for this system and according to what I see here for state laws, it's a no brainer, so back to the garage...BREAK AWAY LAWS

OK, READYSTOP Brake away is installed. I removed the brake pedal pad and drilled a couple of holes through the pedal, then made a double loop through them with the aircraft cable and attached a quick disconnect to that. Now both cables can be disconnected and layed away when not in use as a toad. Hopefully this part of the system with never be used.
Tomorrow we'll do the testing and any required adjustments to everything by pulling the Jeep around with my F-150.
