Noticed that the paper has really started to peel away from the wood on the inside.

Any ideas on a good fix.

I was thinking of masking off the area, removing the paper and spraying some of that 3M rubberized undercoating.
But then started to think will it stick/bond to the wood.
Any ideas out there.

more than likely you have wood rot there ...
it is probably the framing too that is rotted .
tear it apart and rebuild

The wood seems to be in real good shape. I am going to in and peel back some more of the paper, but from what I can see now, the wood seems good to go. I am sure that its not in factory specs, but this is a 23 year old camper.

The interior is pretty much brand new and no leaks, so its a keeper!

Just want to seal it off, and "use it"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks..

why not strip the paper down and then reseal the the wood with some heavy duty wood protection, like a deck stain/treatment?
Wouldn't that also help prevent future rot problems?

take an ice pick , stick it in the wood and see how solid it is ..
the wings are just junk 'white wood ' covered in luan plywood .
believe me ; i had to replace the wings on both my campers ...
and seen the same thing on a lot of others ...
also pull the center rubber strip on the curved aluminum trim strip . take out a few screws on the bottom of the wing and see if they are rusted .

Something like Copper Green? Then some stuff like Cabot sealer? But that Copper Green stuff sticks real bad!!!!!!!

Then seal the edges with ProSeal RV silicone.

Could be.........

Thanks

I have often thought about those skirts coming down. Seems like they would always catch too much moisture. I've often thought those skirts ought to be cut off and then completly enclose all the utilities under there.

Those skirts seem to act like a water scoop esp. with all the tire splash coming at it. I would have to be careful with what solution I'd do because sometimes sealing out moisture can often make it to not dry out if it did get wet underneath the coating.

Everything that is exposed to the weather on the S&S is now sprayed with rubberized undercoating. Its paintable, waterproof, and almost impossible to hurt. I caught it on sale at autozone for $1.59 a can......I bought them out.
