What's your experience with this app? I'm currently in Humbug Mountain SP in Oregon w/o AT&T 4G service or data service. The app description says it works best with 4G so is it worth $10 for this location?
To be clear I'm asking about usage on the iPhone with ATT and I'm posting this using Verizon data service.
Should I bother driving to a location to download the spp and then attempt to use it back here at the CG?
And yes I'm new to the iPhone, apps and AT&T service.

DishPointer Android is a stand-alone app requiring NO service. It does need your GPS ON to be accurate especially if your location can't be pinpointed by cell towers. I only use it for site survey as I think Android SatelliteFinder is more useful.
If Android has an app, iPhone usually had it first.

Thought I'd try to help you out but that iTunes is too complicated for me to get around in.

I no longer have a use for it, but from reading all the reviews on iTunes store the "Pro" version is what I would get. The Pro version is $19.99.
It uses the GPS function is why the 3gs and 4 iPhones are needed. You don't need internet or a connection to the cellphone service to use it. You point it at the sky and it shows you where all the sats are.

You're correct that it apparently wants Internet or phone for Location Services to work. I put mine in Airplane Mode, and the app came back to tell me that it couldn't resolve a location even though GPS is on and the app has permissions to access it. I sent a note to the developer to see why that is?
