`Got home yesterday before dusk after 9 days away from the solar collector: the pile of bricks we call home (two courses of brick built in 1940!)

After grilling and a few beers, we unloaded the rig and found our house without wheels to be not quite accomodating enough for restfull slumber. So, guess where I slept one more night (in 70 degree comfort!)? You got it!

Love it....in our backyard with have a flower bed...the other side of it is a picnic table and I have a firepit. I made a sign that says: Happy Hollow Campground. Love to go out and sit in the tt when I have time...sort of helps the mind regroup.

We do driveway and back yard camps through the entire year. We keep the camper in the driveway (asphalt) most of the time, but on the holidays (if we're not going to a commercial or private camp ground) we pull the camper in the back yard near the fire pit and hang out there. Although we can dump the tanks at home, we use a port-a-potty so we don't have to trek inside the house at night and don't have to flush the black tank. That's much easier since is just the 2 of us and the dogs.

Here lately, we turned our front porch into a "sleeping porch" and have been camping out on the front porch.

Nothing wrong with "home based camping" or "driveway camping" as some call it. I like the term "home based camping" myself.

We live in the country. If you live in the country, or have a country setting where you don't have neighbors sitting right on top of you, you'll probably start enjoing the home camping more and more because of the privacy it affords.

OK, sometimes we boys just never grow up. As a kid I always wanted a tree house, but there were no trees when I was little as my parents bought a field in the middle of nowhere and it was not developed. It took 30 years go get mature trees. I also wanted a playhouse, but never got that either. I did play in the chicken house, but that's just not the same thing. So, as adults now ... well ... my RV is my combination wanna-be tree house and play house (on an adult level) ... so this home based camping is absolutely wondereful! Love that camper!

Enjoy your new found pleasure! and HAVE FUN while the weather permits it! You might not sleep at all in the house for the rest of the summer. Nothing wrong with that! Enjoy!

I have both my OFF-ROAD POPUP and FIFTH WHEEL setup at CAMP BACKYARD. Its a great get-away for watching things on HDTV and for visiting grandkids... The grandkids especially like camping in the back yard..

I thought about hanging a sign as well then got to thinking the county might take it seriously and tax me more....

I run both trailers off extension cords from the garage 20AMP receptacles, The wireless telephone works in the trailers, the Internet WIFI works just fine, and I am tapped into the cable TV...

Also works very well when the power goes off in the house. Can last through the one day/night trailer operations and recharge batteries the next morning using my generator.

For extended house power outages I run extension cords from the trailer to the house,,,

One of my better PLAN-B operations...

Do it all the time...

It only makes sense to want to sleep comfortably....and if the house isn't as comfortable as the RV, well, then the RV is the place to be. Usually, the house and bed are a bit more comfortable, but coming home to a house that has been collecting all that solar heat for the past week?...Yeah, we'd camp out one more day too

You need to spend two weeks at Poole Knobs for some serious R&R.

Yup. Same here. Traded my sig-rig 19'Terry for 2010 Rockwood 8315BSS. Took delivery 6/2. Left next morning for two week trip to Orlando, Savannah, Tybee Island, South and North Carolina and GSMNP. Haven't moved back into house yet. Laundry and two showers. All else goes on in Rockwood. Cooler, more comfortable bed.

Yup,I think I chose the perfect full-timing rig. Now to get rid of that pesky job thing...
