you have to remember that all replies here are opinion. some are based on fact, some are not. unless you are able to do a diagnosis on that particular problem,in the flesh, all you can do is tell them what you have knowledge of in a similar situation.
some guys, like dougrainer, have years of experience, so you can count on those guys to give you good information.
it is amazing how many people ask about something, and haven't even looked at a service manual for that product. manuals can be found, often at no charge, on the internet. google works wonders. it helps if you can ask an informed question, and are able to follow the advise given. smart answers, and spell check police don't contribute much to the discussion.
my pet peeve is not getting enough information about a problem. rv brand name, year, manufacturer of the offending product, help posters to reply in an intelligent fashion. or not
i dont know everything, but i know a guy who does.i just ask him.

Not sure how a rant about forum members opinions ended up in the Tech Issues Forum? But it's here so......

I don't know I don't have a problem with it. If you ask a question that deems the answer BE an opinion, you get what you asked for, a plethora of peoples opinions. And some OP's get upset about this why?

Having this many Rv'ers all in one place to get 'advice' on an RV problem is just unbelievable. I know I have saved thousands$ of dollars by having forum members help me trouble shoot repairs. And as you make your way up the Rv'ing ladder from Tent to MH, you don't have to find another forum they are all here in one place to help.

I just read on one of the forums yesterday it was mentioned by a mod that there was 7,000 plus members that were 'logged in'. I think, but not sure, that was just logged in not total members.

That's a LOT OF DIFFERENT OPINIONS! And bottom line no one has a gun to anyone's head forcing them to read these posts. Move on an get over it!

I am leaving because I have had it. Trying to help people that will not post the model and serial number.Of what they have. I don't like to guess at an answer. I want to give the best honest answer I can.Saying you have a Generator does me no good. I have been working on generators for forty years. There are a lot of gensets out there.

I don't know about small generators, but big engines (caterpillar stuff) serials are based on what's installed on the generator. It helps to pull up a profile of that particular machine because there are so many ways to install them.

It's the same thing as the VIN on my F150. The dealership can look up the VIN and see what options were installed on the truck.
