Someone please tell me WHY my AC stopped working when on of my batteries went bad, it left me with one battery which because of the dead battery was weak as it was getting drained by the dead one. So AC would not start while I was plugged into 50 amp aervice and then my furnace would also not ignite as well as my water heater. replaced the bad battery and of course my furnace worked fine as well as my water heater but then just for fun tried the AC and low and behold it worked. I had a service tech look at it while in Yellowstone and he said the compressor was bad so just to replace the AC. SO what does the batterys have to do with the AC starting (remember I was plugged into 50 amp service)? also my AC is blowing at 50 degrees, is that good or should it be blowing alittle cooler, unit is a Carrier with remote control and is 8 yrs old and carrier does not make RV AC's anymore. Eager to hear your therory.

Yes, the thermostat works off 12 volts as well as the furnace and water heater controls...
You need to check to see if your converter is working.

12v DC is needed for the thermostat to work, furnace control, water heater control and refer control.

Took me days chasing the problem of why the air would come on but I'd go back and it was off.
Bad converter, cooking battery......12V is needed for thermostat on A/C and many refrigerators. Thanks to a forum member pointing that our for me solved 'my' problem.

X2, your convertor is not working properly and probably killed the battery too which means it will happen again if not addressed soon
