I have a Magellan Gps for car. I found a copilot truck software that I can install on the existing gps. Has anyone used it. My concern is not to take a route that is not for MH. Please if any one can help on this. Thanks

People have died due to trusting a GPS map!
I use mine as a guide only. The rest is up to ME to determine the suitability for travel.
If the GPS tells me to turn where there is no road, I don't turn!
If the GPS does NOT tell me to turn where I know I need to go, I turn anyway.
That magic electronic brain just isn't trustworthy!
"What routes are not for a MH?"
Let's see...
Logan Pass, in Glacier National Park ("Going To the Sun Highway") is not for motorhomes.
The railroad underpass between Montana Avenue and Minnesota Avenue here in Billings is NOT useable for anything more than 8 feet high. If your GPS says turn there, DON'T DO IT!
The upper reaches of State Hwy 298 along the Boulder River is not suitable for motorhomes, so I have heard.
There is an end-of-the-road campground on Big Timber Creek that I have been to with my old truck camper that I'm not sure it would be a good idea to go to with my Class A.
Yes, there surely ARE places a GPS might tell you to go that you should have second thoughts about!

Take your RV up the Dragon(not the Dragon's Tail) to Deals Gap in NC and you will see a route that is not for RV's. It was a chore driving my Jeep up that climb, it is a Motorcycle road all day long, they have banned big rigs from it from to many people getting killed over the years.

I run a Garmin, after trying a few I always came back to Garmin
It is a truck unit and you can enter vehicle specifics height / weight / and it is supposed to check route make sure it is ok.
But it is a machine and it does error on occasion, not often but it makes a error every now and then .
I am brand loyal and will stay with Garmin

I have a garmin 2550, not specific to motorhome driving. But, I pre plan my route using a trucker atlas, Mountain Directory (East or West). I plot a big rig friendly route, jot down the Route #'s, exit #'s, etc - on a sticky note - put it on the center of steering wheel - if the gps directs me elsewhere - I follow my route - gps will recalulate.

You know what would be good is for everybody to start contributing GPS coordinates of places that its not good for RV's. Then we could compile a database on roads/routes to avoid.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.
