I keep the w/d in a hatch on the trailer while on site...getting ready to head out at the end of our last trip, set the w/d out on either side of the trailer tongue while loading up the gear and otherwise getting ready to hit the road...never considered that it was a dumb move to leave the bars baking in the 100-degree Texas heat for over an hour...when I grabbed one to install it, darned thing was so hot I nearly dropped it from my hand!
Food for thought, maybe

Light leather gloves would solve that issue.

We just lay our WD/SC bars on the a-frame, but we always have gloves (primarily for gathering/cutting firewood) handy in our passthrough basement should the need arise. It takes about a minute to install both of our WD/SC bars thanks to our power tongue jack and have never experienced this dilemna in the past, but we haven't camped too often in that kind of heat.
I laid those babies in my truck bed on top of my black rubber bed liner for about 30 mins. one day in the afternoon and that was the first and last time I ever leave them out in afternoon Texas sun Living in this heat I should've known better.
