We kept the same bank..same account..same everything.
Set up on-line banking with direct deposit.
When we receive an odd ball check we just mail it to central processing center.
Odd ball bill......pay it with on-line bill pay.
Need cash...cash back with groceries etc.
5 yrs. and haven't run into a problem that couldn't be easily addressed/resolved.

I went with USAA and dumped BOA. You don't have to be ex-military for USAA's checking and since I am old enough, it is totally free. They have the usual online services and bill pay, but what did it for me was their check deposit ability. I do work part time when I'm traveling and need to deposit a check. USAA issues you a debit card that can be used to make a deposit at most UPS stores. They have a special little device that reads your debit card, scans and cancels the check. Works great and with 4,000 UPS stores you can deposit virtually anywhere. The debit card can be used for cash at any ATM and the fee is added back to your account at the end of the month. There is a monthly limit on the number of ATM uses, but I think it is 10. Way more than I ever use.
Works for me.

BANK is a four letter word. Refuse to use them. Poor customer service and high fees. Switched to a Credit Union 20+ years ago. Just make sure the Credit Union you use is a member of their national cooperative network or whatever it is called.

We use Wells Fargo also but not ft'ers. With online banking, iPhone app banking, automatic draft for payments, automatic deposits, 24/7 phone support, access to thousands of ATM's, and no charge cash back at most checkout counters for when you need a bit of real cash. And they do have hundreds of branches arund the country just in case you need a touchy/feely experience.

We switched everything to USAA. One of the better things we have done.

Has always made sense to me to have a bank that has branches everywhere in US and even abroad for me......plus some others.
Not really important as long as laptop works and you can get cash for no charge.......use one that has been around for awhile and has the most services free......good luck

We were already banking with Bank of America , so we stuck with them. That being said, we do all of our banking online, so it really doesn't matter which bank. Interestingly, however, is that we're in South Dakota workamping for the summer, and there is no Bank of America in all of SD! Guess they're not in three states. Regardless, we just use a debit card when we need cash and get extra money. Works for us.
Congrats on going fulltime in November!
Happy Travels!

Been using Wells Fargo for 25 years with success at online backing at 95 % of transaction,,,,til 2 weeks ago,,,,primary account was pinged by a fraudster, and WF asked to block that fraudster same day, A week later WF e-mailed that Fraudster had entered again and WF was shutting down all account tranaction immediately and we would have to go to branch to reopen new account. Two days later Fraudster took 4900 dollars from account even though he was blocked and account shut down. Got a mess with paying current bills and WF claims it needs two weeks to return the money. The claim response is a tele operator that can only read the info on there terminal kinda like the Indian call centers.
Bottom line going to online services is extremely convenient but we have a lot of research to do with regards to security and damage control in our new banking arrangement. WF claims the theft occurred interbank not do to theft of a check debit or credit card number.

For the most part it doesn't matter which bank you use. We actually use two (one sticknbricks and one internet) with the ability to transfer between both. Dropped another one after interest was so low, it was easier to consolidate funds into other accounts.
What mattered to us:
1) Finding a bank that will reimburse fees for cash withdrawals from other banks ATMs.
2) One that you can pay bills directly through debits or electronic deposits.
3) No FEE checking and savings accounts.
We just bought an RVLot with the owner carrying the contract. I set up a automatic debit to send directly to their personal checking account. Saves me stamps and envelopes and lets them skip going to the bank.

we switched to Chase for 2 reasons- they are in a lot of states, and we can deposit a check by taking a picture of it with my smart phone. we pay no fees, and we can also email money to our kids when they need it. Pretty convenient (for the kids!).
Online banking , of course, you canget that with most banks.
