Has anyone replaced their 15 inch tires on their Jayco 5er with 16 inch tires? I contacted Jayco and all they will tell you is that they recommend what's on the sticker of the Jayco regarding tire sizes or anything else. I'm sure that is their position from a legal standpoint. Also contacted Tire Rack about using LT tires with the trailer and they flatly said that they couldn't recommend that-another legal position I guess. Thanks for any input.

This probably won't help, but my 2012 Super Lite came with 16" wheels.

I don't have your rig but I upgraded from 15" to 16" Michelin XPS Ribs and feel better about traveling over the terrible roads out there.

I put BFG LT235/85R16/E tires on a 07 Jayflight 28.5. Just put the springs & equalizer in the lowest holes. The only issue I had was the lower skirting, I juat rolled the corners over. We ran the BFG's for just over 2 years on the Jayflight before trading for the Mountaineer, kept the tires and they are now on the Mountaineer.

Someone needs to get 20/20 or 60 minutes to do a segment on this issue. It appears that everyone wants people to use OEM tires that fail way to often.

We have a 2007 Jayflight 30.5RLS. Two months ago replaced 15"wheels with 16" steel. Tires replaced with BF Goodrich commercial T/A 225/75R16 E. Truck tires were replaced with Michelin LTX M/S2 245/75R16 E. Raised the trailer one bolt hole. It runs as close to level as can be expected now. It pulls and ride great. Just in time since we leaving in two weeks for Alaska.

I sure wouldn't ask any trailer manufacture for their recommendation on tire repacement. Don't forget most of them gave us the problematic tire on the trailer to begin with.

You didn't give any tire particulars but I'm guessing your trailer may have came with ST225/75-15 D which is approx 28.3" tall with a 2540 lbs of capacity.

The LT225/75-16 E mentioned is 29.2" tall and has a 2680 lbs of capacity. Other LT are larger in diameter with 3042 lbs of capacity. You will have to measure your trailer for clearance issues.

Dexter says there needs to be 1" min between the tires. You need about 2 3/4" min at the top of the tire for std leaf spring axles.

Look at this thread 15" Tire problem---SOLVED **update with pics. When I looked at RollingRockTX's work I knew that what he had done with the Superlite, I could do to the JayFlight.
I did concider using the 215/85/16 and the 225/75/16 tires, but I needed to raise the rear of the trailer after switching to a DRW truck so went with the 235/85/16 tires. After the switch I had to use 6X6 blocks under the rear stabilizers, and often a step platform under the entry steps.

Right side. Have not yet repaired the damage from the Marathon blowout yet. Because of the blocks under the wheels the rear is raised.

Left side.

This was the closest point. But after 2 years I never found evidence of contact
