Can someone tell me the good and bad between Tiffin Allegro and Newmar Baystar gas jobs? I know they are both on Ford frames as we have a Windsport now and thinking about a new one. Let me know your thoughts please?
Thanks

We've been planning and researching a long time for a future class A purchase and I've narrowed our choices down to Tiffin, Winnie/Itasca & Newmar but came to find that the lower end Newmars don't have fiberglass roofs and that's a deal-breaker for me.

A good place for you to ask your question about the Tiffin Allegro is this forum.
And as for the Newmar this place may be a good place to start. Granted, I am signed into these websites so you will have to set up an account and sign in in order to post.
Good luck!

That's too bad you've become so selective before you have bought.
Rubber roofs are fine, there are a lot of nice coaches with a rubber roof.
What about radius cracking on Tiffins or basement air on Winnie's?

My parents had an Allegro, we're on our 3rd Newmar; hands down without question choose the Newmar. Structurally its just a far better built coach IMO.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

9 times out of 10 I would say Tiffin. But in this case, I'd go with a Newmar if the price is the same.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Agreed. Parents Allegro had a "fiberglass" roof. I'd take our BriteTek roof over theirs any day.
The Newmar roof isn't a rubber roof either. Its BriteTek, which is a synthetic material waaay better than rubber.

For deciding factors I would look at the following.
1. Layout which suits your needs.
2. Body condition and is one or the other full body paint, the stickers tend to curl and fade.
3. Tire size I've found that the larger 22.5 tires handles better than the 19.5, my experiences from driving trucks semis and 6 wheelers the larger tires track better on the road.
I've never owned a Newmar I have test drove them, I now own a tiffin allegro Bay gas rig and I am very satisfied I am 6'4 and the 7' ceiling is a nice feature in the Tiffi especially the extra height in the shower. The other nice feature is the ac units the design that Tiffin uses has less air noise since the unit is off center.

Why is the Newmar structurally better? I'm not knocking them, just want to know what makes them better. Almost bought one last year instead of my Tiffin.
After owning three RV's (2 class C's and 1 class A) we bought a Tiffin 34 TGA last summer. The few minor issues we had for it Tiffin didnt bat an eye over having the items replaced/repaired. Contacted them recently about a problem with the power window on the drivers door and even though the warranty is up they are going to cover it. The support has been fantastic so far.
But I would not buy either if we didnt like the floor plan.

The Newmar AC is the quietest system I have ever seen in a MH. We don't have to turn up the TV if the AC is on. The hung wall construction of the Newmar will give a much more solid construction and it is not subject to delamination. The aluminum framing is 16" on center just like home construction. The insulation factor is one of the best in the industry. You can probably find the R factor on the Newmar website. Mine is R16 in roof and R11 in the walls & floors.
