You mean like the one newmar has used since the early '90's? Yep, Tiffin went to that style A/C a few years ago.

Why is the Newmar structurally better? I'm not knocking them, just want to know what makes them better. Almost bought one last year instead of my Tiffin.
bsinmich answered it well. I've also seen a few Tiffins with wall cracks around the slides and lower compartment doors that were no longer square - and these weren't old units. One was my parents, one was friends of ours.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

We do like the floor plan on both and I can see good points on both. The Newmar ( now I am getting picky )basement doors all hinge from the top. The Tiffin hinge from the side and it seems easier. Our first rv was a class c Itasca and it had a fiberglass roof.We are steering more to the Newmar just because we have such good luck with our local dealer. We had so many issues with the Itasca dealer and as long as we live here I will never own another Winnebago product.
We think you really can't go wrong with Tiffin or Newmar. We've owned 9 RV's ( 4 motor homes) by FAR Tiffin has been the best. We owned our 05 Tiffin for 7 years with very few problems. We've already taken a 900 mile trip with our 2012 with no problems. We know that if we do have a problem, there will be a Tech at Tiffin that will actually answer their phones. We also like the bay doors that open from the side.
I really don't think you can make a mistake with Tiffin or Newmar.
