Just for confirmation before I switch over to Shaw, is there anyone in AZ who can confirm there is or is not reception now as of July 15/12?

Thanks.

The other Bell thread said no signal in South Dakota and parts of Minnesota or in Philly so I think it's safe to guess that you won't get a signal in Arizona

This is a crock of crap!! Do you really think they can cut off the signal at the 49th. My Bell has worked very well any where down south and I'm willing to bet the coach that it will work fine when I get back down this fall. The only thing I will say is to use the biggest antenna (24") that you can find. Get rid of all King Domes. Macktee

Macktee, were you able to get satellite 82? Now 91 has the same footprint as 82. If you got 82 last year, than you will probably still get 91 this year.

As far as cutting the signal, it's pretty much just like shinning a flashlight on a wall, depending on how you aim it or how far you place it, you light it different areas of the wall. The new satellite has a much smaller radius than the old one.

Yes I got 82 and 91 last year. I spent 20 years with a communications utility supplier, and I don't believe that Bell would cut their nose off to spite their face. I'm just saying. Macktee

I might take that bet. What kind of coach do you have ???

My understanding was that they launched a new satellite that has a different footprint. I always had trouble with my Bell down in Gold Canyon, Arizona as did several friends. Now with the new reduced footprint it will be interesting to hear from some folks down there now who are still getting the signal.

Mactee:

I don't know where you were last winter but for the last 8 years we have never received 82 only 91 and I have a 24 inch dish. We were in Texas for a few years and now in AZ.

I just don't want to get down there and find there is indeed no signal. How do I get Canadian TV then? Shaw won't ship over the border. You have to have a friend ship it. Can't imagine what would be involved shipping a whole dish and reciever into the states.

How can you be so sure when Telsat shows what the foot print will be under Nimiq 6 which is about 125 miles south of the border.

Shaw doesn't require any contract so I could cancel Bell and try Shaw this winter and see if any Bell users are in fact getting a signal.

When do you leave for down south. I hope to take the rig down about mid to late Sept. I will try it then and let you know. I really don't believe there will be a problem but if you aren't as sure maybe you will have to change companies. Hope that isn't necessary. Macktee

Macktee:

I leave the 3 rd week of October normally for the winter.

If you are in the southern states in September, I would apprciate you letting me know by a private PM or posting another thread on this subject.

Thanks

Toban
