We have a 2009 weekend warrior 5th wheel with two electrically operaterated bed platforms. The motor that runs the extension and retraction of the platforms quit working. We contacted an authorized dealer who contacted Good Sam. We Purchased the Good Sam continued service plan gold for 84 months back with the unit in 2007 when we bought it new.
Good sam denied the claim stating that the repair was for bedding and therefore excluded.
The repairman stated the motor is the same motor that is used for slide out. When we purchased the plan we were told by the dealer that it covered all electrical. And the schedule of coverage 10B give examples of cover components of slide out room motors; guides; sliding entrance blower motor and worm gears. Also covered is the awning mechanism and motor.
It seems to me that the motor and mechanism that raises and lowers the bed platform would be in the same category. A bed platform mechanism or motor is not specifically excluded. Is not a slide out merely a platform on which the bed sets?
Has anyone else had a similar issue? United service protection tells me we will be getting a denial letter and we can request a review. Has anyone been through this process. If so what was the outcome.
I agree with you that the electric motor for the bed platform should be covered under the electrical system rather than excluded as "bedding". That is not the intent of the contract. If you can forward me the invoice for the repair, I will insure that you are reimbursed for the cost of the repair.
