We are seasonal campers and have been at the same campground for the last 4 years. We just recently bought a new 31 foot TT and I have so far blown the breaker twice this season. I am aware never to turn anything on other than lights while the A/C is on and did not at the time of the breakers blowing. While they were flipping it back last weekend, I noticed that the breaker was 10 amps. I am concerned more about doing damage to my TT then to their breaker that has blown. Any suggestions or ideas ?

Thanx...

Rich...

ask the manager about the ten amp breaker and ask him if it is a mistake. Are you hookrd up to the 30 amp outlet on the pedestal? Ask him to have it checked out. If you are hooked up to a 30 amp outlet it should have 30 AMP Breaker.

I agree, 10A is not enough to run AC.

Do you have an electric water heater element? Random 12 amps right there. Air is ~12 amps, converter 2 amps, fridge on electric 3 amps.... 29 amps, right on the edge.

10 amps?? Probably installed by Edison himself.

CG needs to upgrade.

If you have a new trailer that shouldn't be a problem running other things in the trailer while the A\C is running. We run the A/C and the microwave along with the TV and refrigerator at the same time and it doesn't trip the breaker. Except of course as you've found out you couldn't do it with a 10 amp breaker at the meter.

Damages occur from low VOLTAGE not low amps. Low amps results in tripped breakers. Think of "volts" as the drink you're drinking and think of "amps" as the size of the glass you're drinking from. The glass size doesn't change the drink inside to poison.

If your new trailer has wheels, I'd be using them and find a campground that can provide the 30 amps your trailer needs so you can use everything in it as intended.
