Good job! Great adventure. I might have seen you at Mesa Verde. I work there. You made me realize I need more travel time too.

Of the 14 days... we stayed in established Campgrounds 6 nights. The other nights were spent driving or at Walmart's and such. We reserved 2 nights at Yellowstone's Fishing Bridge and Canyon campgrounds about 3 weeks ahead of time and we reserved two nights at Buffalo Bill State Park in Cody about 2 weeks ahead of time. The other nights we stayed at campgrounds including the National Parks we just showed up and got a spot. When you have a Truck Camper your options are a little more wide open because they can put you about anywhere including tent sites.

We don't like to plan ahead too much. We like being spontaneous. If we like an area we stay a little longer. If we don't like it, we just keep on moving.

We pack enough clothes to last us the two weeks but most of the established campgrounds have laundries. More often than not we pack way more than we need. When traveling out west as opposed to the south you don't seem to have to change clothes as often. In the summer in Florida you can change twice a day or more.

You have surely earned a nomination for best son of the year from me. What an incredibly thoughtful and loving thing to do for your dad, who BTW looks damn good for his age. I especially enjoyed your visit to Cody. I lived there for a summer and actually worked at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. What an amazing place. Thanks for the travelog and the pics.

I have been to all those places, some several times. My trips were all spread out over the past 40 years though.

I have 2 young grandsons that I plan on taking with me to re-visit some of those same places.

That's the best trip report I have seen yet. You went to the best of the best on that trip. Next year we will be doing the same thing with my mom (God willing) except we will be renting a big class A. It's always been a dream of hers.
