simple question. Are there ANY 5th wheel toy haulers manufactured that a 1/2 ton Silverado (with bigger engine and tow package) could haul? REALLY want a 5ver, but can't put the cash together for the package with a duelly diesel...

Simple answer. Figure out which trailer you want. Find out how much it weighs and what the pin weight is. Get the specs for the truck, read them and see how much 5th wheel weight the truck will tow and look and see if the payload capacity is enough to carry the pin weight and the "stuff" you plan on taking. NO a 1/2 ton is not enough truck.

There's 3/4 ton gassers out there that are more than capable and not super expensive.....that said most big manufacturers tout having 1/2 towable units.

depending on the specs and config of the truck, you'd be pushing it...
looking at 1/2 ton specs.. the best truck for the challenge would be the Vortec 4.3L V6 MFI engine 2WD as it has the highest payload capacity and 5ers typically have a great deal of tongue weight... and I believe that's the regular cab standard bed...
question is, can you find a toy hauler that has a pin weight and trailer weight that would not exceed the specs?... I really haven't looked, but I doubt it....
I traded in my 1500 4wd 5.3 in january.. it was a crew cab short bed and there was no chance of putting a 5th wheel in there... the owners manual even said... not built to haul a 5th wheel...
I too want a toy hauler 5th wheel.. I bought the truck for it in January knowing that some day..... I'LL HAVE IT

Depends on the 1/2 ton chevy year/model/engine size/real axle ratio/RAWR and GVWR.
The RAWR will carry the pin load on the trucks rear axle/tires.
The vehicles GVWR package for how much the trucks tow rating is.
We have a toy hauler forum maybe the mod/adm can move you over there. Some over there tow with 1/2 ton trucks.

There are some small 5th wheels out there a 1/2 t could tow, but not very many. Much larger selection if 3/4 t gasser. Any of the larger ones need HD 3/4 ton or 1 ton, preferable dually.

There are no 5th wheel toy haulers a Chevy 1500 can tow. Period.

Unless you have a 1500 with a 6.0 or bigger engine with a heavy duty transmission and heavy duty suspension, your will not be able to tow a fifth wheeler very long. Chev did made a few heavy half ton trucks. I was pulling a 26ft foot travel trailer with a 1500, extend cab, 2 wheel drive, auto transmission, tow package and not heavy duty. I pulled the travel trailer maybe 4,000 miles total. The transmission has started slipping. And I do not want to remember how slow we drove through the Big Horn mountains.
Have you checked your manual to determine how heavy of a load you can haul in the bed of the truck? The pin weights of most 5th wheels will exceed the load capacity of the bed.
