I have a little dilema. We are heading to Ocean City Maryland from Cleveland Ohio in a couple of weeks and going the full distance is just a little much for us but not enough so to cut the trip in half. My comfort zone puts me somewhere near the Maryland Bay Bridge but I cant come up with anywhere decent to spend the night without going quite a bit out of our way. Our route will be bringing us down route 2 to 301/50. Anybody have any ideas on campgrounds or even a RV friendly parking lot that would fit our needs?

Isn't there a KOA around route 32 and 97? I don't think that's too far from Route 2, but I could be guessing.

The other option is to check the walmartrving Yahoo Group and see about Walmarts in the area for overnighting.

The Capital KOA may work. It only adds about 20 minutes to our total route and it also lets me bypass 695 around Baltimore. Great idea.

The only Walmart I can find is around Easton is about an hour past where I want to stop and less than 1.5 hours to OC. I hate the thought of sitting at a Walmart for 2 hours just burning time because we are to close and its to early to check into OC.

Another great idea. It is JUST past the bridge. Perfect.

Couple of other options would be the Sam's Club across from the Mall right off Rt 50

Seen a camper or two there almost every week.

Then just across the Bridge is Beach Harbor -- they often have a space of two available.

The KOA wouldn't really be out of your way -- you'd be better off to take MD 32 to I-97 to U.S. 50 anyway, instead of your route via MD 2, which has a lot of stoplights. (We've driven each of these routes countless times.) Trade a few minutes for an easier drive!

As alternatives, there's a Wal-Mart in Frederick, 5 minutes off I-70. (Don't do the one in Mt. Airy -- too hard to get in and out.) There's a K-Mart and Cracker Barrel just over the bridge, on the right ... but by then, you're 2 hours from destination.

Thanks Mike. I think your right. The KOA makes the most sense. The Cracker Barrel will be our #2 choice. Thanks for the help everyone.
