After retireing last year and traveling the west we are most disappointed in the large group of irresponsible pet owner. Each and every campground we have visited has a leashed pet rule but there seems to ALWAYS be those that think they are above these rules. Just the other day one camper had four large barking dogs running loose. What goes thru that persons mind or is it just empty? Or the person that lets their "special" dog run loose and bark. What has happed to our campgrounds???? Isn't it supposed to be a quite get away with nature not a visit to a dog park? If these people can not control their pet then they should leave them at home. We have also seen several pets left in an rv or tent or just tied up and the owners have left for the day. What can we all do because no one likes a barking or loose dog? Many hosts are no help either because their pets are just as bad. We love dogs and have owned several so we are not dog haters we'd just like to be able go for a walk and not have to clean our shoes off their deposits when we return. thanks

Ahhh, more talk about the 'priveleged people', the folks who think the rules apply to everyone except them, if they stop to think at all. This happens far too often, not just related to dogs. IMHO, I don't think it will ever stop. You can complain to management. They may or may not talk to the owners but at the end of the day the owners want those people to return and spend more money. The most clout you have is telling the owner of the park that you will find somewhere else to spend your money and you will tell all your camping friends. You could also leave a review at rvparkreviews.com.

You are correct. Best way to make your point in through your wallet.

Not only does every CG we have visited have the leash rule but it is always the 6' leash rule. Wish I had a dollar for every "the rules apply to everyone but me" who comes down the road with fluffy 30' out in front sniffing and doing her business in our site. Not only are those retractable leashes one of the most dangerous consumer products on the market they offer little if any control when the pooch is 30 feet from his owner. What part of "Pets must be on a 6' leash" is unclear to these folks?

I agree. As someone who keeps our dog of leash 100% of the time (she's a runner), we do not appreciate unleashed dogs coming up to our dog and antagonizing her or simply wanting to play - she can't play when she's on a 4-5' leash!

It's their world and we just live in it..... Same people that travel 5MPH below the speed limit in the fast lane, roll through stop signs, throw trash on the highway, stand in doorways to talk with someone, complain about the traffic and then stop dead to gawk at an accident, have a loud conversation on their cellphone in a restaurant, 12 items in the 10 items or less line, don't pull over on a hill when they are holding up traffic in their RV....I can go on and on...

Friend I confess to being one of those folks. I am trying to repent. My dog is rare in that it only wants to be with the family. One night she got out of the kids tent and could have gone anywhere. She was at the trailer door. Hovever, I really can not justify being above the rules. She hates the leash and never leaves the camp site. Sorry, I will stop.

I have to say, I must be in the lucky minority. The dogowners,(us included)in our usual campgrounds have been pretty responsible. However, I would not hesitate to intervene if I saw an unsafe situation. I wouldn't want the actions of one to cause a CG to stop permitting pets.

Not sure of the psychology involved, but my dog Nick is a super well behaved leash walker. He follows all instructions including "ignore" when we walk by other dogs on a trail, UNLESS the other dog is loose. Then he goes into defense mode and gets really hostile towards the other dog if it comes anywhere near me. It is like he is protecting me from some perceived threat.

I want to send a thumbs up to the management (Sandy) at Travel Inn in Elma, WA.
There was a group of a motor home and two tents of younger kids plus two cars on one of the spaces, there were two med. dogs that were kept on a leash but when a very large dog was lead by one pulled loose and went after the big one.
About an hour later Sandy came own and sent the younger ones packing.

I don’t need anger management-I just need people to stop pissing me off.
