Been struggling with setting up my initial set-up for HD for Direct-TV. Have to say George from TV4RV has been very patient and helpful. But he can't answer every question & concern. I am semi-techincal I know quite a bit about computers and have set-up simple computer networks but this one has me stumped. I am asking all of you who have TV4RV experience with the initial set-up. I cannot get a signal and have used the signal meter and and to no avail I cannot get 101 satellite. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I bought a SL3 Slim Direct TV Dish with 3 LNB's and the kit from TV4RV.
Ok, is this a SWM dish? That is, does it have a power inserter? Make sure you've set that up according to the directions.
I've given up on meters and just use the signal strength display on the TV. It's a real pain tho because there's no audible signal. You have to have someone watch it for you or keep going back to look yourself.
The directions that come with the tripod kit are pretty good.. have you followed those?
One little trick I've discovered with my SWM dish is that my azimuth is consistently off by 10°, and my elevation by 5°. That means I have to swing my dish 10° farther EAST, and 5° HIGHER than the specified values. That took hours to figure out.

Yea it can be tricky. What I did is -- I set my "camping" TV and tripod/dish up at home, ou in the yard. (Using folding table for the TV/sat box stand and setting up the tripod as I would at the CG). That way you can look at your permanent dish at home, and start by placing the camping stuff in the general position. (OH I would look at the home TV to see exactly what the signal meter says) then mess with the camping dish till you get the same signal, (or maybe even a bit better). After you have it, tear the dish down, go away for a few minutes, then do it all again. For more practice, go to another house (friend-family ETC) and do it again. You will get it down pretty quick.
