Wanted to stop and visit Canyon De Chelly in September but am not able to find any parks that support a big rig that are close. Have searched all my usual sites and no luck. Any recommendations?

Unrelated question.......had received responses and read other posts regarding the Wash Wax All product used on planes, boats and RV's. We have some and use it often on the front when cleaning off bugs, etc. I am curious about using it between washes on most all of the coach. Thoughts? Never? Only on dusty type surfaces? Yes, regardless of how dirty (even the road "grit" down low on the storage doors)?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Additional Information......we will be there several days with four adults in the RV so we need full hook-up site. Sorry, I should have clarified that in the initial post.

There are no full hookup sites at Canyon de Chelly. No RV parks in Chinle. I would think you could make it work for two days with dry camping. Do all of you need long showers each day? OR...if you could always just drive the rim road which has many scenic parking areas and view it that way. At least it would give you a good idea of the Canyon. There are some beautiful views from the rim. Then just continue on to another campground.

Cottonwood campground has water and a dump station, sites for big rigs. The closest with full hookups are in Window Rock.

Let me throw out an idea.

Pull into the Free camp ground and spend the night -- Walk over to the Motel and get a room and use the Shower and the Bath room. Enjoy the National Monument, pay for a couple of days in the room and move on when you are done.

We used to travel with our two son's while they were in college and we have done this often, difference was we would stay in the parking lot and they would sleep in the room. (you know the saying 6 or more for drinks 4 for dinner but only sleeps TWO)

Let me also strongly advise you not to miss Canyon de Chelly -- it is truly one of my all time favorite spots -- when ever we are anywhere remotely close we will visit, I always try to have a good meal in the local cafeteria and just Thank all the Native Americans for sharing this special place with the rest of the country.

Hope this helps,

BOL,

On a side note...........if your Toad is a 4 WD, the people at the intrepertive center can put you in touch with a Navajo guide for about $20-25 an hour (this was several years ago). We did this, I drove through the canyon, and our college educated guide was great. He and his relatives lived in the canyon. Experience was so much better with him along. His insite was truly the highlite of the trip. We were in the canyon for about 3-4 hours. With tip, $100.00.

I heard they were starting to have a fee -- $10.00 is not much we will always leave $20.00 in the donation box after we have dinner.

Now the rooms are a little High, but there are a couple Motels on the road in -- just not the same.

JMHO,
