Forgot to mention that we have an outside on-the-post Surge-Guard and have always lusted after the inside, hard-wired unit. Our concern was theft of the outside one & ease of hooking up. But, due to lack of space to install it, had to "make do". Then we saw the rig that burned up when their inside surge unit caught fire (which is what they sometimes do to save the rig). It unfortunately also caught the storage bay on fire...... We just have a locking hasp & have never in almost five yrs had a problem with anyone messing with it.

I have the external surge guard too, and I considered a locking hasp, until I thought about it. The hasp locks the unit to your power cord, but unfortunately, mine, like so many newer coaches, have the yellow power cords that plug in at each end, so if someone wants your surge protector, you're gonna lose your power cord too.

How "sane" is it to think a simple statement of FACT should be considered "ADVICE"?
I very rarely give outright "advice". I simply state what I have done. What the reader does with that information is up to the reader!

How was my posting pics of what can and has happened, so the OP could make a decision any different? Your comment was that they were "SCARE TACTICS" when they are "facts".

So, you are convinced that my mention of "scare stories" (not "SCARE TACTICS") was directed specifically and only at YOU?
WOW! what egotism!
The "scare stories" I refer to are ALL the anecdotes and stories about dire consequences of not doing what the writer thinks is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD! Whether it be TPMS or toad brakes or running with the propane on or whatever. The FACT is that such occurrences are quite rare when you take into account the number of RVs in use at any one time. There are more than enough paranoid people in the world, I don't think we need to add to them.
Yes, IMO, the "ME" generation is alive and well, and it encompasses ALL age groups: As in, "This is how I do it, and I am right, and YOU are wrong, and if YOU don't do it MY way, YOU are STUPID and a danger to anyone within a hundred yards of you!" As opposed to those of us who say: "THIS is what I do or have done in the past. It worked for me. What YOU do is up to YOU, and I don't really care what that is. Good luck!"

Coach-man news flash - I'll never go away - got to stay around to help protect others from such insane advice. Your bully attitude means nothing to me and others I'm sure. Seems quite a few other folks think you are way off base as well. The guy beside me who fried $3,000 in electronics due to no protection I'm sure would have a few choice words for your uneducated comments. Such a macho attitude you have imposed upon yourself - you just don't let others have an opinion that disagrees with your opinion. I find yoru ignorance refreshing so stop trying to pick a fight with me - you have your opinion - I have mine!

That's what I like to see; a plain, simple statement of opinion, without any histrionics or hyperbole or "scare tactics".
If only it could be done more often...

If it wasn't directed at my post and the pics then I will apologize publicly, but since your comments came right after it sure seemed that way.

I too think using a surge protector is prudent. (I like the simplicity of that post!)
