The USPS won't allow P.O. boxes to be used as a domicile because there is no street address associated with them. Just about any parcel store (like The UPS Store) that is also a Comercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) can also be used. I went that route and found a local store that rents mailboxes for $144/year. A search of this forum will show that this topic has been extensively discussed.

I use a mail service in Sioux Falls, SD. Very RV friendly state, no income tax, no vehicle inspections, reasonable vehicle insurance rates (compared to my stick/brick state of NJ), easy voter registration. But, be careful about what state you select with your health insurance!!! Check with your carrier about that. I belong to the Escapees, but SD works better for me.

We have been residents of South Dakota for seven years. Vehicles, MH and car
are registered in SD and we have SD drivers Licenses. Our mail service,
Alternative Resources are in Sioux Falls. They work with you setting everything
up in the beginning. Have been extremely happy with their service. We get
two mail drops per month when we are in our winter location. When on the road,
we just e-mail their form to them when we are ready for a mail drop. Works
very well for us.

Since you reside in Texas now, the easiest for you would be do do everything in Texas. Escapees mail service would be perfect for you. Here's a link: Escapees Mail Service

If you have a relative you trust, you can just use thier address if they are willing to forward your mail occasionally.

We get very little mail anymore so it's not a big deal and it's cheaper.
I agree, use a friend or relative. We use our daughters florida address no problem.

If we used our daughter's address it would cost us extra each year for insurance, registration, etc. because she lives in a Texas metro area. Plus, I wouldn't dream of imposing on her, she has her own life to live; nor do I necessarily think that adult children need to know everything about what we are doing, etc.

We use a private mail box facility (similar to UPS stores). We are considering switching to Escapees due to the cost of the service we currently use. We got our PMB about 6 months before we moved out of our home so that we could "catch" any mail that wasn't being forwarded or that we forgot to notify. We also set up auto pay for everything just in case....we weren't late paying regular bills. We were concerned about drivers licenses but changed our address via the on line system and had no problem. The only problem I had was registering to vote! Who would have thought? I understand that people who use Escapees don't run into that problem. I mentioned that we are considering switching to Escapees because of the cost associated with our current service. We pay approximately $240 per month for the box. When we are going to be parked somewhere for awhile we email the mailing place with our address and they send our mail at the bulk mail rate...usually about $8 a mailing. The downside to that is that they forward everything that's in our box and most if it is junk mail. It was such a hassle to finally get everything switched to the mailing place so that's the only reason we've procrastinated on switching. There is an Escapees in Livingston, Texas (I don't think that's very far from where you live). Good luck with whichever option you choose! We've been full timing since October 2011 and could not be happier! Even if I can't vote LOL!

$240/month!!! I hope that's a typo, otherwise you got ripped off. When I started going FT I used a UPS Store that charged $99/6 months ($198/year) without 24-hour access. I thought that that was too much money. I then found an independent parcel store that rents mailboxes for $144/year with 24-hour access (I gravitate to mom-and-pop businesses). It is no-frills:
-no online account
-no need for money on account for postage
-no extra $$ for discarding junk mail

They have a note on their side of my mailbox that instructs them to automatically discard all junk mail and sales catalogs. I call them on the 1st and 15th and ask if I have mail. if I'm looking for something specific I ask them to read the envenlopes to me. Given the parks that I FT at in WA I'm usually driving past the parcel store every 2 weeks. If I need something urgent I can have them forward it to me and they'll ask me for a CC to bill the postage to.

After a one-time enrollment and cancellation fee, the yearly cost for Escapees is $85 plus postage. It is excellent service - never had a problem in 16 years from them.
