We have an 09 Bighorn, it has an electric awning. When I go to put it out the fabric unfurls but not the arms until I pull on one of them. When the awning is open the arms are not perpendicular to the coach. The fabric shifts to one side at least 6 inches. When I go to wind the awning up the fabric shifts back to center but one of the arms seriously twists out of shape, I have to knock it staight. The awning has never been in a severe wind, we have always taken good care of it. I would like to fix it but don't know where to start? Any ideas, Thanks

Sounds like it needs some oil on all the pivot points. I had a similar problem with ours sticking and very slow. I oil it a few times per season now, and it's working just fine.

Does your awning have the two gas springs on it (one on each arm)? Those springs may have lost their pressure and are causing the binding. I believe they are used to aid in pushing the arms out and away from the coach.

On a Bighorn it's most likely an A&E awning. Ours binds sometimes too... I just bring it back in an then put it out again...usually solves the problem.

I have a Carefree - but still have a similar issue sometimes. Mine is usually after a wind and the fabric actually slips down the roller track and little and when it winds up the arms are misaligned and wont close all the way.

I've been able to fix mine so far by just jumping on the tailgate of the truck to gain height and giving the fabric a tug to slide it back into place on the roller.

Hope it helps, sorry I don't have any experience with the A&E.

Not uncommon, a lot of things can get them out of whack. Push them straight and lubricate the entire assembly at every joint and tighten every fastener holding it to the RV and at the joints and you may make it better.
