I had no trouble getting my 35 foot TT (55 total feet) in there. the owner, who is extremely nice and helpful will guide you in and help you back up. I highly recomend this campground. they have a video on You Tube to give you an idea. they have an excellent rating on RV Park Reviews including my "10" and many others!

River Plantation in Severeville? Looks far from town on the map. Do the busses or trolleys go that far? When we go into town I would like to avoid taking my nice truck into crowed streets and parking lots.

It is about 4 miles from where I consider Pigeon Forge starting...around wears valley rd. The trolly does not come into the CG, but does stop about a block away.
I didn't read back to see if Pine Mountain was mentioned, but it is nice looking and has a trolley stop at the CG entrance. Clicky
This would put you almost right in the middle of PF.

Ditto Clabough's and ditto you better hurry making a reservation if you want to be in the same area. A major reason for my vote is the kids. My kids enjoyed the pool and lazy river. You'll see it is off the main drag but gives easy access to Cades Cove via Wears Valley Road. Hopefully CC will be cleaned up from the storm damage. Abrams Falls and Spruce Flats Falls are two nice hikes in that area.

Riverbend Campground in Pigeon Forge. Only 1/2 mile off the parkway, but very close to just about everything. Almost always have spots available, concrete pads and paved roads, and only $32/night for full hookup...

tdeal, I am not sure what town you are talking about when you say "into town". Pigeon Forge is spread out over a few miles. There are outlet malls, restaurants, etc. all along the main road. The trolley goes the whole route. We drive our truck all over Pigeon Forge and have never had trouble with roads being too narrow or having problems with parking. Gatlinburg's "town" is about a mile long and you can walk from one end to the other if you really want to. the trolley goes that whole route also. The main street in Gatlinburg in more narrow, but nothing to worry about. parking is more of a problem in Gatlinburg. You will have to park in a garage or find one of the few pay parking lots. there is plenty of info on this forum about all the various cg. You just need to pick one that is on the trolley line. It goes straight through Clauboughs and up a short hill from Twin Creeks or the one in Sevierville. Crosby and Townsend are much further away from the touristy area.

Laurel Falls? I have not see a lot of websites that promote hiking trails. So.....once I get to the campground will I find maps and brochures about hiking trails?
Elkmont is a National Park campground with no hookups. Several trail heads there that can take you all the way to the App Trail. I am not sure if they have information there about the trails. You can call them. Elkmont (865) 436-1220 probably too late to get reservations there but you can try.
Laurel Falls info and others.....falls info
Take time to do Clingman's Dome if you can. It's the highest point in the Smokies and provides a pretty serious hike that let's you see some pretty views from the top. You will need to drive to the trail head that is half way across the mountain. Clingmans
Have fun!

Whatever you decide, you should make reservations soon - not only do you have a pretty good size group - but your timing into Oct might bring camping leaf peepers - but I do think you will be early for that. Have a great trip
