Note the last line of the linked article. The legislature will now get to spend the money - do you think the state parks will get much of it?

Hahahahaha......maybe that is why it was being hid, to keep it out of the legislatures grubby hands.

Sadly, the state probably will confiscate the money and waste it somewhere other than parks.
That is where the major incompetence of park management lies. They had a surplus, hid it from themselves, let parks close, be vandalized, and broke the current rules on vacation buyout for a select few.
The management at parks should be fired. Clear out headquarters and shut off the lights.
Park rangers, their staffs, and certainly the public, don't need them.

This is what pisses me off the most! While we are doing whatever we can to support our state parks and keep them open, they've had the means all this time to do so. What makes it even worse is they won't get the money they have to repair and/or reopen our state parks.

Seems to me it's time for the supporters and campers in California to step up and be heard about where that money gets spent. You only have one voice each, but if you don't use it, the collective voice never gets heard.

I lived in California for 35+ years, and love those mountains, seashores, and deserts and frequently return ... the parks are worth saving, every campsite, every tree, and every trail and stream and river.
