Just another one the many reasons I love having the Leer Shell on the back of the F-150. Everything, including the two Honda 2000's goes into the the bed under the shell. Out of sight, out of the weather and securely locked up.

When traveling, in the PU bed with a locked cable. In use, about 10' from the FW and locked with a cable when I can.

locked to the tie-down bracket in the front corner of the bed of the pick-up truck, with the cover over it. when in use, either in the bed of the truck, with a stack, or next to the truck, typically locked to the running board.

you haven't mentioned brand or model of generator.

you haven't mentioned brand or model of generator. It's a Champion 2000. I know, I know......it's not a Honda. We don't normally dry camp and didn't want to invest a small fortune. But it does have a closeable vent cap.

If it's a loud one your neighbors will tell you where you can store it! But it won't be comfortable walking around with it stored where they tell you to put it.
I would run it wherever legal. Hopefully you'll be my neighbor. Your option is to move on if you don't like it.

I have a Honda EU3000ic (about half the weight of the 3000is). While we are camping it is chained to the frame of the TT. When we leave it is left in the bathroom with the vent cap closed. That is the main reason I bought the IC over the IS...this way my wife and 9 year old can move it anywhere they want. All it takes is open the bathroom door to the outside, turn on the fan for a bit and any smell (not much as all) is gone.

Inconsiderate people are not just confined to trailer parks. I've had to deal with them a big part of my life. I was a cocktail lounge owner (fancy name for beer joint) for many years in East Tennessee during the 70's and 80's and there's nothing you could do that would surprise me. I've had to deal with all kinds. Luckily campground owners dislike inconsiderate noisy people as much or more than I do and they take care of the problem before it bothers other campers.
