As a general rule, I make a conscious effort not to intrude on other peoples campsites unless invited but we stayed at one RV park some time back that had me at a quandary as to how to avoid other peoples sites. This particular park is set up in a large rectangle with the office in the center and nice paved roads and concrete RV pads and grass between each site. There are back-in sites around the perimeter and then four islands on each side of the office with pull-thru sites. If you can visualize the rectangle stretching from east to west, the roads are situated so that when you leave the office, you drive to the north edge and then turn east or west to get to your row. The islands of pull-thru sites run north and south.
Here is my quandary. We were in the center of one of the rows furthest away from the office and I needed to take our laundry to the laundromat at the office. I try not to drive our toad at the campgrounds when I can walk but from our site to the office in a straight line was maybe 1/8th mile. Not a bad walk at all but there are no paths thru the islands to let you get from your site to the office unless you cut through sites. The islands are long enough to comfortably fit 5 or 6 large RV pads so they are probably each close to 1/8th mile long. If I follow the road, it doubles the distance that I have to walk.
What would you do? Drive? Walk around via the road? Cut through only the unused sites? Cut through sites in the shortest path?
I'll post back later to tell you what I ended up doing but I'm curious what you would have done and what acceptable campground etiquette would dictate.

I'd go through unused sites or walk around. If I had a huge load I'd drive.
I'm not to the point of putting "caution tape" around my site but IMO when folks are crammed into such close proximity respecting others sites is important.

I've NEVER felt threatened by anyone walking through my site since I am only RENTING the site for a short term. I will NOT be held responsible for damage to the grass from walking on it or any other damage those passing through might do so it's really a non issue for me. Hard to imagine getting so "territorial" over a small piece of land you are renting

I agree! Also, if you have something heavy to carry a distance I think it would be okay to ask if you can cut through this one time. I think most reasonable people would see your reason and let you pass. If not, move down the line and maybe some kind soul will let you through. Just don't think you can make a habit out of it. Common courtesy is always easy to achieve, which doesn't seem to be exhibited in our society anymore. Exercise does us all good.

I agree
My friend has one of those wheeled carts, I think they would be perfect for taking the laundry in Hum, might look into that.

Sounds like a bad lay out. I would walk around or, if they were out, I might ask if I could pass through. True you are renting the spot not anyone else. I would respect that fact. Many will not as I have seen.

I would cut through somewhere but would look for someone outside and ask permission first. I've never seen a camper upset because someone asked permission to pass through.
