3 years ago Brian Ward, the company’s president, filed for bankruptcy and minority shareholders Robert and Sara Ward also filed for bankruptcy.
I hate to think that they went under...I tried all of their listed phone numbers no answers. Nothing in the local Colorado newspapers tho.
My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.

The background on this was that the bank wanted to call their operating loan (...remember the economic crisis?). OUTFITTER said, "Fine. Renew it or take it our of our hides."
The bank blinked, first, and OUTFITTER continued on as it had. In fact, it never actually closed its doors. Playing hardball with the bank was not their preferred method but everyone in the financial industry was panicking.
Like most truck camper factories, they are a _small_ shop. Their web-site is still up so I would say they are still kicking. It is not unsual to have difficulty reaching them by phone.

I saw Bob on this Saturday July 29th, when I picked up a new camper at Outfitter. Looked like they were very busy, he said that they were having a good year. I traded in my Apex 9.5 for a Juno 10, already miss the Apex but I think this camper will work better for us.
Over the last 2 or 3 weeks I found that sometimes when I called the phones did not seem to work properly they did not go to their answering system like normal and then other times the phones worked like they normally do.

Kbaum,
What do you miss about the Apex. We like ours except for the QC issues. We give an inordinate amount of tours of our 2011 Apex 9.5. Some Class A motor homes want ot severely down size and "get back to their roots camping" but do not want to tent. Some Chalet Triple sliders wonder how we do with such a narrow camper.

I find it ironic that RV companies generally seem to have good years when the economy is in the proverbial toilet. (...When the going gets tough, the tough go camping!)
Brian Ward told me once that he looks forward to 'slow' years so he can catch his breath.

Right now I mostly miss my familiarity/experience with the Apex and the storage it had. The new Juno has other advantages for example, a larger bathroom (still not really large) the tent room will come in handy with grandkids and a place to move things out of the way when we camp for longer periods of time at the same location, a larger refrigerator, the new composite roof should be nice and lastly the side door will be
nice because we almost always are pulling a trailer or toading our jeep. We have used our Apex a lot, traveling to all three coasts both boon docking and in camp grounds. the Apex has been for the most part trouble free, but not perfect. one reason for us staying with Outfitter is that their service and followup when problems have occurred has been very good.
I have owned many rv's over the past 30 plus years and have never owned a perfect one. I presently own a Nuwa Hitchiker 5th wheel I bot new Nine years ago. Usually considered one of the best on the market I have had issues that I have worked through with my dealer (fortunately a very good dealer) and am very happy with the trailer now.
I had a good experience with my Apex and look forward to an equally satisfying experience with my new Juno!!

Boy what a scare reading the first post here. Glad to know it was just a phone hiccup and like dadwolf wish them the best. My Outfitter has held up remarkably well and the service second to none. I can't believe we've abused our camper five years now and I see many more to come.
