Has anybody replaced the basically worthless 4 bladed ceiling fan with a Fantastic fan? I'm curious about the structural framework in the ceiling that might be in the way. I don't want to weaken the roof but need more air circulation back there. Gets warm dry camping in Key West.
Rig is '05 Itasca Meridian 36G.

Yes! I installed one that has the thermostat in it, in the normal ceiling vent. It's wonderful to turn it on when we go to bed and then in the middle of the night after it has cooled down, it turns it self off.
Sorry if this doesn't exactly answer your question but it is a great mod.

If its a regular 14" vent opening, the Fantastic Fan iwll fin with mo modifications. They are designed for that exact purpose. Most RVs with a overhead vent have the necessary framing already in place. If you have a small fan already in the vent, then you have all the wiring available also.

Doug,
I think you have just a ceiling fan and not a vent in the bedroom. is that correct? I have a ceiling light AND a ceiling vent in my BR, so replacing the vent with a Fantastic Fan would be easy.
If you do have a ceiling fan, I will think that you could install a Fantastic Vent in place of the fan. You would, of course, need to cut a hole through the roof into the BR ceiling for the install. Dimensions and instructions come with the Fantastic Fan. Just make sure you seal the frame to the roof very well. Use a good sealer under the flange and then all around it.
If you are not that handy, go to your local RV service center and pay them to do it. I know Lazy Days is in FL and they have a good reputation. Don't know if the are convenient to you, or not.

Did it last month above my kitchen. Fantastic vent is nice upgrade over the stock fans. It is very quiet yet effective with the bigger fan blades. Replacing it took me about 6-7 hours total time. That is probably longer than most but I'm not super mechanically confident. Most of the time was spent taking all the old putty off and cleaning the surface to create a nice seal. I used eternabond tape (2 sided and 1 sided). You can buy the eternabond tape by the foot on ebay so you don't have to go and buy a big 50 foot roll. It really made the job easy and the Fantastic vent company really stands behind their product. Most are designed to be a simple swap for the standard 14 inch stock fan. Good luck!

As others said, it will fit fine in the standard opening. We have three and love them. Two with rain sensors and the one in the bedroom has a cover so we can keep it open in the rain.

If you are saying you have a fan and would have to cut a hole, which I believe to be correct, then I have a suggestion. Fantastic fans are excellent. They do make some noise. Since your bathroom probably has one of those useless screaming one speed fans you can replace it with the Fantastic model. Now it serves two puropses and any noise is a bit further away and you can run it closer to full speed. With that setup you can still use your ceiling fan. Also try reversing the ceiling fan with this setup. We have two Fantastic vents. One in the bathroom and one in the Kitchen. We can stand the curtains out when we open the small windows in the bedroom. Ours do not have thermostats on this RV and I miss that option that we had on the last one. We can add them but just haven't made it a big priority.

I love my fantastic fans. A lot of people don't know that they have a lifetime warrenty on the entire fan. I had them ship me parts for my fans free of charge, no questions asked.

I have an Endless Breeze fan from FF that I like, I can set it by the window in our bedroom to either exhaust air or blow in, the soft white noise helps to block sounds without being annoying. I can also move it to anyplace in the coach with a 12v outlet so it comes in handy other places too.

I'd be interested in seeing a fantastic fan with a motion/moisture sensor for the restroom. That way when someone uses the toilet or shower it would turn on the take out the smells/moisture. But only open when the moisture content is high from showering or someone is moving around the toilet area.
