Canadian Gun Import Rules
Yes, with permit and correct reason (animal protection, for one).

From what I have been told, you want to have all your paperwork filled out before you get to the border. Make sure you have you bill of sale with you(if available).

Why do you need to be armed in Canada?

He did not say he needed to be armed in Canada. He said he is traveling and has it with him. Stay on topic or don't post.

Why is the moderator hostile? Very unfriendly atmosphere here these days.

He's just trying to prevent this thread from turning into the typical debate over being "armed" or not. That topic gets ugly fast here and then gets rightfully booted.

With the correct paperwork, yes, you can carry a shotgun in Canada.

Also be sure to comply with the Canadian requirements for storing a firearm and transporting a firearm in your vehicle. These laws may differ from your home state. Non-compliance carries heavy penalty.

No problem at all as long as you do the paperwork and understand and follow the rules carefully. We do it often back and forth to Alaska. Just do your homework and get things setup BEFORE you get to the border...don't wait until you get the border.
