We camp 3 times a year at a lake campground that is really unlevel. I have 4 2x8 boards each cut just a little longer than the other, stacked making a long ramp. The boards are about 5 1/2 feet long and take up alot of storage space. Is there a better system that will work for tandem axles? I see alot of campers struggling with those "orange" blocks and i'm affraid i'd need a bunch of those.

I carry 4- 18" 2x12's and 2 packs of orange blocks. When I had the fifth-wheel I used the orange blocks and usually only one side would need to be built up 2
high. I put down the one layer and then second layer was 1/2 on one orange "lego" and 1/2 on the next lego. That way it made a ramp instead of trying to pull up on 2 at a time. I also used the 2x12's and with beveled edges
turned to make it flat for the center piece, it worked. Long boards could be a tad unruly and hard to store. I'm sure someone else will chime in with other better suggestions. Good Luck...

I use Lynx Levelers (those orange blocks). Light weight, easy to transport and easy to store and strong.
You can make a ramp out of them also for changing a tire.
I gave up hauling a lumber yard full of scrap wood around.

You are really doing it right in my opinion.. The only other thing to possibly aim for is a bit of ditch digging.. Bring the rig in close to where you want it, and then dig out the high side with a pick and shovel perhaps to settle things down a bit. Fill it back in after you pull off and point to home.

X2. With 2 sets, I've never come across a situation in which they don't work.

If site is really unlevel, sometimes I dig out depressions in the dirt for the high side wheels. Especially when the low side is on the door side. It also makes the wheels more stable. I refill them when I leave.

If the OP is carrying 4 2X's the full length of two tires, they've got to be getting the low side up 6 inches. Not sure 2 bags of Lynx Levelers can do that.

Perhaps slabbing the wood into smaller pieces would make the "pain" of carrying them easier.

I carry 2X10.....two boards. One is 58" and one it 54"
Carry them in the bed of truck. don't take up any real storage.
I like the long boards cause i can just lay them down and drive on. No stacking, no ramp building.

This is what I do as well except the smaller board is cut up into 3 sections so I essentially have 4 boards. I can use the smaller boards under the jacks if I don't need them for the tires.

I like the Lynx Levelers. They’re more expensive than boards, but they’re lightweight and very versatile. You can get a 10-pack for about $30 at the Super Wally Worlds.
