I'll second that motion, especially if he's drinking beer while splitting the wood.
Is anyone else complaining?
Speaking of drinking beer...go over to him with a 30 pack and drink with him until it's "quiet time" or until he talks you into helping him!

HJB, I can feel for you. It's not that nice soft thunk you get when you manage to power through the swing and nicely split a log with a finely honed, razor sharp ax.
It's that tink tink tink sound of two hardened metals hammering away at each other you get when you have either inferior tools or not enough technique and power to get through the wood. I would have been irritated too and would have politely asked him to ease up on it. No harm in asking.
But as you said, all is well.

Doesn't sound too annoying to me. You could complain to him, but you will run up against a worse offense at the next c/g. How much can you stand?

I am just amazed about the things the people will complain about and post on these forums. Dogs, kids, gold carts, chopping wood....... Please folks put a little more effort into enjoying yourself and less effort policing everyone else.
What next the smell of me cooking onions on my grill is bothering some one.

Relaxing and chopping wood? No problem, you're letting the little things get to you.
On our last trip, a guy was doing the same thing. I walked over after a bit and offered him my large splitting axe. I've had to fall back on my hatchet and 3 pound hammer when I've forgotten an axe- a lot more work!
Anyways, he declined, saying he works sitting all day and the exercise really makes his shoulders feel better.
DW and I relaxed in our chairs with a cold drink. No problem at all.
BTW, not gonna blast you for the noise bothering you, especially since you were wise enough to ask for opinions before stirring up trouble. Sometimes if you have too much of a 'perfect' trip in mind, everything out of place can annoy you.
A laid back, go with the flow attitude helps a lot- which you seem to have chosen. Good job. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Agree, For crying out loud if all this trivial stuff is a bother you should be doing something else.
