Our phone company charges $50.00 month for the landline and $30.00 for DSL. I've kept that (12 month contract)but will probably drop it at the end and tether from my phone. That saves me RVing money.
$50 ? I just cancelled my land line but was only paying $25 inclusive of all the bs taxes and fees. I had zero features, just the ability to make phone calls. No caller id, no 3 way calling, "no nothing" with AT&T. Also, check with your wireless carrier about tethering. AT&T won't let me tether my iPhone without paying for a high(er) priced data plan.

Look into FoxFi in Google Play. That might help get you tether on your current data plan.

FAX is so old world... well then so am I.
I wish that I had cell phone coverage at home without standing on one foot with the phone in the air hanging out the window.

The problem with most FAX services is they require you to pay x amount of $$ per month to maintain an account. I use something called PamFax which has the standard subscription plans but also has a plan that allows sending faxes from desktop, laptop, tablet or phone and charges only for the faxes sent at a rate of around 12 cents per page. You do need to pre-purchase "credits" (minimum credit purchase is $13).
I bought a $13 credit about 2 years ago and still have $6.39 in my account.
I use a free eFAX number to receive faxes and PamFax to send them.

When I got my Magicjack I tried to fax and was surprised that it worked. I've been told that Vonage wont do fax.

You can go to a UPS Store and have something faxed.

If you have a business then I'd suggest Ring Central. I have both a fax # and a 800 # which I can forward to any phone or computer I want. Had them for over 10 years now and it works very well. You can fax/call from any computer and the computer also acts as an answering machine.

Get a repeater to put in your home. I put one in and dumped the company landline 6 years ago. They are cheaper and better now.
If you use 4G, just be sure to get one that is 4G capable.
Wilson is a great supplier and lots of people on the web can advise you what you need and how to set it up.
You can even get things to hook your cell to the house copper so you don't have to hunt up the cell when it rings.

Most businesses aren't that fussy anymore and will allow photographed emailed documents in lieu of fax. For those that are (probably something legal or medical), a Goin' Postal etal will work.

I dumped my landline about three years ago and have had no problem with "faxes." I haven't found anyone that won't accept a scanned and emailed document in lieu of a fax. I scan to create a PDF file and then email.
I've also used two apps on my iPhone: FaxBurner and Genius Scan. They both work great.
