I have a 3-axle 39ft toyhauler. Has approx 2000 miles (4 trips). I was washing the trailer when i noticed the outside of the right tire on the 3rd axle is almost bald. The inside isnt as bald. I looked at the tire on the other side and it is balding on the inside, outside of the tire is fine. The trailer rides level when hitched to the truck. Is this due to the 3rd axle tires sliding more on the asphalt while turning OR what i think, an axle missalignment??

Only 2000 miles, I would bet bad alignment or something bent; especially the way one is on the inside and the other on the outside.

Good luck.

Sounds like it could be a missalignment issue. Do the front axle tires show any signed of wear? Your center axle serves as a pivot and your front and rear will definitely scuff across the road surface. One thing I read as I was considering a TH was to take turns extremely slow. I watch in amazement the bend and flex in my axles as I make tight turns. I swear the bead is going to give! Our TH is nearly a year old with about 6500-7000 miles of travel and all of the tires seem to wearing evenly.

Take it to a big rig alignment shop and they can diagnose the problem. Had a similar problem on the trailer in my signature.(left driverside rear tire wearing on inside)
Happy trails

What does your "normal" drive look like? Mine wear excessively on the rear axle but my normal drive is 100 miles of TWISTY roads and I can see the rear tires scrubbing as I turn and they do wear out first on the outsides of the tires (looks like a car with a bad alignment). However they wear evenly on the same axle left/right. I have done measurements myself and had a shop check as well, it's straight.

Given the uneven wear I concur with the others, get it checked out (unless your normal drive is around a Nascar track - you know, all left turns)

Don't take life too seriously, it's not permanent.

The routes are primarly straight (Salinas to Pismo, Salinas to Lucerne valley). Most of the turning is done on the streets around my home. The frame is "Lippert". And, i am taking it into the shop today.

I had to have mine re-aligned. They acutally bend the axles back to in spec. However, while talking to the tech, he said it happens all the time. He's seen them come out of the factory out of spec. Mines been great since the alignment.
