I'm not sure what you mean by "delete my account." Certainly, your post will not be removed; that would leave holes in discussions.
If you no longer have a need of time for the forum, log out and don't click on a link that brings you back. If you are worry about emails, go to your preferences page (My Forums -> My Preferences) In the privacy section make sure there is no check for the Allow members to send me Email option.
I would think that just by your inactivity, you would just drift on into the sunset.
Whatever your input has been will stay in the archives.
