When hooked up to CG water that has low pressure, is it OK to occasionally turn on the H20 pump to supplement water pressure...like when taking a shower?
Thank you in advance for your reply(s).

Just make sure there is water in the tank for it to pump.

Yes.......both sources (hose/water pump) supply your rv plumbing system.
Discharge pressure of pump is typically 45# so if the cg hose pressure is less then the water pump will run and supply your needs.
There is a check valve in the inlet water connection and an internal check valve inside pump. These check valves prevent water from flowing backwards.

I've never actually been to a CG with lower pressure than the onboard pump. Are you sure that you don't have some sort of blockage in the city water hookup side of your RV?

Yes, as Coolbreeze says you need to make sure there is water in the tank or it won't work.

As long as you have water in your tank you can use that water ANY time you want to. The pump is not likely to increase the PRESSURE water though but it can draw water from the tank instead of the pressure outlet provided it has more pressure than the water connection has. If it doesn't have more pressure it is unlikely to even turn on.

Never been to granite hill camp resort at Gettysburg, PA I take it ...? No, actually, we went to Artillery Ridge. But that doesn't solve the problem, I asked about your city water hookup because there have been folks on here that have found clogged screens in the hookup, kinked lines in the system, both of which will result in low pressure.

The key thing is.....if the check valve at the city water inlet on the RV is NOT working, you will be pumping your water out to the city side. Based on all the RVs I've had, the check valves never work properly except when brand new. If your in a situation where the city side has low water pressure, why not just close off the city valve and use your own fresh water tank and pump? The Rv pump produces a flow rate as good what you can expect in a city line.

It's not likely you will get additional flow by turning on the pump, that is any additional flow beyond what the pump normally delivers by itself.
If the pump supplies more pressure than the campground supply water pressure, then the pump will block any flow from the campground hookup.
Normally, you can't combine two streams of water if there is a pressure differental.
