I once saw a tire life map in years to replace. it was much lick a time zone map. It showed shorter tire life in plaves like Az. and longer in Maine. Has anyone seen this map and have a link?

If I were to draw a line A (prime) to B southwest Arizona to Quebec, Canada, and plot the rubber integrity of a modern tire driven 7000-miles per year, and that tire's road rating being at 70,000-miles wear, it would look something like this:
Arizona: 4-years till replacement
Colorado: 6-years till replacement
Iowa: 6-years till replacement
Illinois: 7-years till replacement
Michigan: 8-years till replacement
New York: 9-years till replacement
Quebec: 10-years till replacement (at this point, tire would have 70k miles on it anyway)

Is it an internet opinion or is there some actual science behind the data?

Some body posted a govt study some years ago that showed tire failures by state. The conclusion that I drew from it is what Chuck&Gail posted. It was a web site with a lot of data.

Geez...I sure wouldn't go by a chart to know when it's time to replace tires!! Common sense, yes. Good luck!
