I installed a new water heater in my camper. It is gas and electric. It is not heating the water. Is there a thermistat to adjust the temperature on the heater? I am using electricity.

Do you have a bypass system? If yes, ensure the valves are correctly positioned

Did you have it filled with water before you wired up or turned it on.
Instant failure of water heater element if not full when turned on.

Fixed T-stats....normal 140*F & ECO (high temp) 180*F
And YES.....if no water and electric element is turned on.....need new element.
You can check for continuity across terminals on element with power off. No continuity, replace the element.
What model is it?
Does it try to light on gas?
Does it have 12v DC power to circuit board?

ohm'ed out good. I have 120 volts going to a relay but the hot wire coming from the relay to the element has no power. The relay has a yellow wire to the outside panel, a ground wire and the hot wire. Does the relay have a switch or wire that would turn it on? If I am only going to use 120 volts, could i just wire the power straight to the element and bypass the relay and make it work?

I’m not sure if you installed a direct replacement or another make and model? The Atwood has a 12 volt DC control module that energizes the relay if the thermostat calls for heat.
Bypassing the relay will give you no control of the temperature in the tank and most of all you will be also bypassing the safety features (e.g. ECO) for the tank to operate safety.
